Long-distance transport and comodality

In a globalizing economy with increasing goods transport over long distances, each transport mode must endeavour to optimize its performance (comodality) under the growing constraints of law and the environment. Road transport in particular, which is the dominant mode of land transport, is seeking high-performance solutions for infrastructure (goods corridors, intermodal terminals, etc.), vehicles (allowing longer rand heavier vehicles (LHVs), developing clean vehicles), and logistics itself (night deliveries, goods tracking and tracing).
